Theatre Manager
Are you an experienced and passionate professional with a love for the arts and community engagement? The Stiwt Theatre in Rhosllannerchrugog, Wrexham, North Wales, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a full-time Theatre Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a historic and much-loved community theatre's operations, programming, and growth.
About the Role
As Theatre Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the theatre’s operation, from programming and marketing to financial and operational management. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders to ensure the theatre remains a vibrant cultural hub for the local area.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming and Community Engagement:
● Develop, implement, and review the theatre’s business plan in line with the Board’s strategic goals.
● Plan and book a diverse programme of events and productions, negotiating contracts and ensuring balance and variety.
● Coordinate community arts and engagement activities, fostering relationships with local organisations, schools, and groups to maximise the theatre’s community impact.
Operations Management:
● Oversee day-to-day operations, including timetabling, staffing, and maintenance of the building and its facilities.
● Ensure health and safety procedures are implemented and adhered to for staff, volunteers, and patrons.
● Supervise the smooth running of hospitality functions and adherence to licensing conditions.
Marketing and Audience Development:
● Lead marketing and promotional efforts to maximise audience numbers and income, including managing media relations and overseeing the website.
● Ensure effective use of the box office and support staff in delivering excellent customer service.
Financial and HR Responsibilities:
● Monitor budgets and provide regular financial reports to the Board.
● Oversee financial transactions and the management of grant-funded activities.
● Supervise and support staff and volunteers, ensuring timesheets and working hours are properly managed.
General Duties:
● Act as a key point of contact with organisations such as WCBC, ACW, CADW, and local councils.
● Attend important events at the theatre and undertake other duties as requested by the Board of Trustees.
What We Are Looking For:
● A proven track record in theatre or arts management, including programming, operations, and staff supervision.
● Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
● The ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
● A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
● Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
● Knowledge of the Welsh language is highly desirable but not essential.
● Basic maintenance or DIY skills and familiarity with health and safety protocols are advantageous.
Hours and Remuneration: This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week. Salary and benefits will be discussed with shortlisted candidates, reflecting qualifications and experience.
